Rain KO’s Seekonk Speedway Opening Day Program

Rain KO’s Seekonk Speedway Opening Day Program

Persistent rain showers and unseasonably cold temperatures forced the cancellation of Seekonk Speedway’s Opening Day program slated for Sunday afternoon, May 4.

Seekonk management and representatives of the Northeastern Midget Association are scheduled to meet to set a new date for the touring NEMA midget and NEMA Lites series’ visit. The 1/3-mile Bay State facility’s open practice session, which was scheduled to run from 11 to 5 on Saturday, also fell victim to wet weather.

Saturday night racing begins at the Bay State facility on May 10 at 6 PM for the weekly Pro Stock, Late Model, Sport Truck, and Street Stock divisions. General admission tickets for 2008 are priced at $12 for those 13 and older. All children 12 and under are admitted free. Pit admission is $20 for ARC Pit Membership Card holders and $30 for non-card holders. Senior citizen discounts are available on general admission tickets for Saturday night races. All guests 55 years of age and older will receive a $2 discount. Guests must present photo identification for proof of eligibility if requested. SEEKONK SPEEDWAY NEW TIRE RULE 2008

SEEKONK SPEEDWAY NEW TIRE RULE 2008
Pro Stock & Late Model Divisions

1. Tires. The Pro Stock Division will use American Racer EC83 on the left side and EC 84 on the right. The Late Models will use Goodyear D2472 on the left and D2682 on the right. All tires must be purchased from Seekonk Speedway. The manufacturer’s identification number on each tire will be used to identify and register tires.

2. TCA-Team Current Allowance. The TCA is the current maximum number of tires a team may register and use in a race. The starting TCA for the Pro Stocks and Late Model teams is 12. A team’s TCA is increased by 2 for each regular event raced and increased by 4 for selected long distance events raced (Pro Stocks only).

3. Inventory. All tires a team registers during the season are the team’s inventory. A team’s inventory amount may not exceed its TCA. Teams must register all tires that they race on.

4. Practice tires. Practice tires are tires that are used only for practice and are not raced on. Practice tires are not to be registered into a team’s inventory. If a team decides to race on a practice tire, it must enter it into inventory prior to racing on it.

5. Weekly Registration. Each week teams must register race tires they are bringing into the speedway that they want in their inventory. Always register tires that you are bringing to the track that you want in your inventory that have not been registered in any previous weeks. Teams must register race tires prior to the car entering onto the track for time trials, heats, consi or features. You may add tires to your inventory at any time during a race event prior to racing on those tires.

6. Registration Card. To register your tires place the numbers on the supplied index card with your division and car number. Sign and date the card and bring the card to the handicapper’s booth.

7. Removal from inventory. A team may remove a new tire from its inventory if it is not used by showing the unused tire to the tire official and having it removed from the team’s inventory list.

8. Inspection. Any tire may be inspected by track officials at any time. Track officials may confiscate any tire for inspection and testing at any time.

9. Penalty. Teams will be penalized for any attempt to cheat the TCA as outlined in General Rules 11.7 & 11.8.

10. Discarded Tires. You may discard tires purchased from Seekonk Speedway by stacking them neatly in the designated discarded tire areas. Discarded tires must be dismounted from the rim. Do not discard rims or tires not purchased from Seekonk Speedway. Do not leave discarded tires in the pit area.
